We all know the questions.  They come up often in our lives, within our circles, amidst our peers.  The queries are many and come fast and furious…

Dresses or pants for women?

Courtship vs. dating?

How much should we shelter our children?

Movies… to watch or not to watch?

Makeup and  jewelry?

What kind of music is acceptable?

Natural methods or traditional medicine?

Should ALL parents homeschool?

Natural birth vs. medicated?

The “simple life” or the “modern life?”

Are fiction books ok?

Is birth control wrong in every situation?

Attachment parenting vs. scheduling?

And many more…

There are blogs and blogs out there with different positions on these things. Books have been written, opinions on all sides vary.  The pendulum has swung to the left and then the right.  Debates abound on every level.  Godly Christians have come down on both sides.  Those we respect and love differ from others that we hold in high esteem.

But amidst the clamor and words…there is a stillness we must maintain.  And if we listen we  hear the words of Jesus saying…

But one thing is needful: and Mary hath chosen that good part, which shall not be taken away from her.”  and…

“By this shall all men know that ye are my disciples, if ye have love one to another.”

It is easy to get caught up on these issues and causes…and forget our Christ.

Don’t get me wrong, it is important to consider the practical ways our Jesus desires us to walk in.  We must hash out each of these things for our own families.  But…are these thing taking a place that only Christ should hold in our lives?

Let me not be known as a conservative, large family, modest dressing mother. Rather, let me be known as a Christian.  A lover of Jesus.  A follower of the King.

“It is a destructive addition to add anything to Christ.” Richard Sibbes

“I would propose that the subject of the ministry of this house, as long as this platform shall stand, shall be the person of Jesus Christ. ..The body of divinity to which I would pin and bind myself forever, God helping me, is Christ Jesus, who is the sum and substance of the gospel, who is Himself all theology, the incarnation of every precious truth, the all-glorious personal embodiment of the way, the truth, and the life.”

C.H. Spurgeon
