“Beauty”

Spiritual Encouragement / Friday, August 12th, 2011

Time for FMF! I love todays prompt!  “Beauty.”  Oh, I could write for far more than 5 minutes on this one.  But, the joy of today is that I can just take a small moment of time and let my fingers flow as fast and meaningful as I can.

So here goes!

Beauty:

What defines true beauty?

Is it the tabloid magazines that assault our eyes at the check out counter?

Is it the commercial that comes up before we have a chance to dodge for the remote?

Is it what the make-up consultants in their white coats at the counters in the department store tell us?

Or is it God’s holy word?

The scriptures say, Charm is deceitful and beauty is vain, but a woman who fears the Lord, she shall be praised.

And in another part of the scripture, I am told to focus not on the outward beauty, but the hidden woman.  The woman of the heart.

After 7 children, as I grow close to 40, and the first gray hairs appear…

where is my beauty?

I pray it is within.

Even the ornament of a meek and quiet spirit…may I be clothed with that true beauty.

To love to be a “hidden woman”.

How much time does the average woman spend on beautifying herself each morning?

And how much time am I spending on my hidden heart?

STOP!

Disclaimer: I do go back and add my links, bold words, etc. after the five minutes. 🙂
