Five Minute Friday

Family, Homemaking, Homeschooling, Marriage, Spiritual Encouragement / Friday, June 10th, 2011

Remember 5 minute Fridays? As Gypsy Mama put it today, “Got five minutes? Let’s write. Let’s write in shades of real and brave and unscripted.
Let’s just write and not worry if it’s just right or not.” So I get to write without editing and that, my friends, is just plain fun. So here goes…

Do you ever feel like you are going backwards?
I sure do.
It seems like the fresh schedules I lay out for homeschooling and just, well…life don’t “stick”, if you know what I mean.

It seems like discipline and training that I have done for years is still needing just as much work.

If I have said it to my husband once, I have said it a hundred times. “Two steps forward, three steps back”.

That seems to be the story of my life.

But then I must remember, that many times what we think is going backwards is really going forwards.

In dying daily, I live.
In suffering loss of “Jenny” and her pride, I gain more of Christ.
My messed up schedule, difficult attitude days, and just messiness of life is creating more of Christ and His work, His love, His patience in me.

So backwards is really forwards.

And that my sisters, is comforting. Do you feel like you have been going backwards? Maybe it is the best place to be in. You see, if I felt like I was going forwards, I would be filled with pride. But in my feeling of emptiness, I know more of my need for Christ.
