What does Jurassic Park and Abortion have in common?
Last night my husband and I went to see Jurassic Park (actually Jurassic World but part of the Jurassic Park series). We loved it. It was an amazing movie with stunning effects and plenty of high action for my husband as well as human interest for this Hallmark girl. 😀 Without going into too many spoilers about the movie there was something in the film that really got me pondering some things. It will answer the question I posed above, What does Jurassic Park and Abortion have in common?
In the movie, the dinosaurs were in danger and the government was choosing to not do anything about it. One of the characters in the story was especially sad about this outcome and was talking with such sadness about how these creatures need a chance to live and they needed to be saved from destruction. As I sat there in my seat at the movie theater it popped into my mind “but what about the babies?“ And I leaned over to my husband and asked him. What about the unborn children in our nation?
What does Jurassic Park and Abortion have in common? Are we fighting for those who have no voice? I am talking now about children, not dinosaurs. Click To TweetSo today as I was walking down our road, enjoying the fresh air and praying to the Lord, I was considering the plight of the unborn in our country. When my husband with a single man he spent quite a bit of time protesting at the local abortion clinic and involved in the pro-life movement. The past couple of decades we have been so busy with their own pro-life movement by either being pregnant or caring for newborns year after year that it was not the time for protesting. We have been blessed also with families from our church having a twice a week protesting and ministering at the abortion clinic pleading for the life of the unborn.
I realized how careless though I had become when I was at my sweet Christian doctor’s office a few months ago. He shared with me about a bill that had been going before the courts for many, many years to protect the life of the unborn. This particular bill had been brought up again and again but the opposite side would filibuster by reading the comics. READING THE COMICS?! What has our nation come to?
So what does Jurassic Park and Abortion have in common? Well, let me ask you, why all these movies about saving animals but no one talks about saving babies? Save the whales. Save the environment. Save the planet. But what about save the babies?
It’s time for us to wake up as a nation because for the most part we go along our merry way (I know I do) and really don’t think about the mass slaughter of children that is happening right under our noses. We are mostly complacent at this horrific genocide.
The Bible speaks of how the Lord marks those that sigh and cry for the abominations of Jerusalem and I wonder how many of us are really sighing and crying these days? How many of us are just so busy going about our days and we might make a small comment here now about how terrible it is. But are we daily begging the Lord and not letting Him go in until he heals our land? I’m actually dictating this on July 4th- Independence Day. But, have we become independent from God? I think about the scripture that says:
“If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land.” 2 Chronicles 7:14
Now back to what Jurassic Park and Abortion have in common.
Just as in Jurassic Park, the government is not doing anything to save those that are in danger, only this is not dinosaurs that we extinct and in the movie are no longer extinct. No, these are living souls that are eternal beings and they are not even given a chance to take their first breath. These are those the scripture talks about that have no voice themselves. Let us be their voice before the throne of heaven incessantly pleading for their lives for their souls and for the Lord to put those in power in our nation that will not be afraid to stand up for the unborn.
“Open your mouth for the mute, for the rights of all who are destitute. Open your mouth, judge righteously, defend the rights of the poor and needy.” Proverbs 31:8-9
