I am joining in on Lynette Kraft’s Thoughts of spring blog party!  To blog hop and get to know many others, head back over to her page.

To start with an introduction: I am Jenny and happily married for soon to be 16 years to an amazing man, who I am deeply in love with!  I have been blogging more privately for years, but just recently began this new public blog to encourage other mothers. This calling is such a high calling, raising the next generation.  But, it also is a difficult calling, and we need to spur each other on in this great work!  So this blog is for us to share our joys, tears, struggles, encouragements, and challenges.  Hopefully you will come away blessed from your time here.  (And I might add, that I am trying to grow this blog, so please spread the word, through twitter, facebook and sharing with others!)

This is a thoughts of spring blog party and I am very ready for spring this year! We moved into our new home in the fall and after a cold winter, it will be nice to be able to take the warmer months to “settle in” more in the outdoor area of our new place.

But spring for us means far more than this…we are expecting our 7th baby in April!  After 3 girls and 3 boys, this little man is the tie breaker.  Yup, it’s a boy and I think based on his activity level, my days will be busy!  We can’t wait to meet this precious little one!

Now on the Lynette’s questions:

How would people describe your personality? (If they could only use ONE word.)
Ok, I asked my husband and he said “indescribable”  Hmmm.  🙂
I asked my mom and she gave two:  “laid-back” and “compassionate”
Two of my friends said “excentric” (I guess crazy?) but then added, in a lovable kind of way.
Are they right?
I would have to say I am laid back.  I always say if I had not married my energetic husband, my life would have been very boring.
And I have always felt for others as though I am going through something myself. Even animals have been affected by this, like the baby bunny I rescued from my dog’s mouth as a girl and got up in the night to dropper feed. Then there was the mouse that I took out and tried to save after it was caught in the trap, that I had set.  It died.  🙁
I won’t comment on the excentric answer. 🙂 (I guess I do surprise people sometimes with the daring/fun-loving things I am willing to try). But, that was commenting on it, wasn’t it?
What celebrity/celebrities would create a “Star-Struck” feeling if you saw them in real life?
Hmmm, that takes some thought.  I just met Steve and Annie Chapman for the first time at a live concert the other day and that was a thrill.  I would love to meet Ron Paul, I guess.

Who is your favorite blogger? Why?
I have several blogs I enjoy and find encouragement from.  You will see some of them on my sidebar.  So make sure you check then out! Another blog that my friend has she fills with wonderful quotes that are a blessing.
What is your comfort food/drink?
Anyone who knows me would not hesitate to agree, it is ICE CREAM! Any kind, any flavor.
Be brave – tell us something very random and weird about yourself.
Random and weird? Ok.  I don’t like going to bed.  And I don’t like others falling asleep in front of me (unless they are tucked into bed).
Another “weird” thing (or some might say it is) is that I like to clean.  Seriously, I get a high from cleaning and organizing.  (You would not necessarily know that looking at my house sometimes.)
Do you have a strong desire to do something you’ve never done? What is it?
I would love to act in a movie. (grinning sheepishly)

Movies: Action, Drama, Romantic Comedy, Documentary, Comedy? What are your favorite genres?
Romantic.  But, we watch with Clearplay (contact me if you want more info) to filter out all the language and unwholesome scenes.  I also surprise people by the action movies I enjoy, like the Bourne trilogy. I love Wives and Daughters also!
Books: Fiction, Non-Fiction, Romance, Biographies, True Stories, Self-Help, Devotional/Study? What are your favorite types of reading material?
I use Matthew Henry Commentaries for my time with the Lord often. I also love Valley of Vision…so beautiful!  If I am reading something light I really like Beverly Lewis’ series.
Music: Funk, Rock, Country, Jazz, Classical, Film Score, Blues, Classic Rock, Crooner, Alternative, Heavy Metal, Techno? What are your favorite types?
We sings Psalms in worship, but outside of worship it depends on the mood I am in.  I love listening to instrumental music (such as Dino)! But, we also enjoying the old classic disco music to put on while cleaning the house or something like that.  I already mentioned Steve and Annie Chapman as a favorite. And I enjoy bluegrass, as well.
If you inherited a million dollars, what is the first thing you would do with your money?
These are hard questions!  I would give to my church in whatever way that I could. Then I would pay off our house and land.  I would set aside money for my children’s schooling.  There are a lot of things I would do.
Name one weakness of yours (confession is good for the soul)
Maybe because of my laid back/compassion I am too soft with my children often.
If you could live anywhere at all (and take all your loved ones with you), where would you go?
We love SC! I think I would live right at the foot of the mountains though if I could.  I was born in the North but want to stay in the South!
Strange Talent? Can you juggle basketballs, put your legs behind your head or perform some other strange feat?
Don’t know how to answer this one.  I can roll my tongue?
What’s something you consider yourself to be good at? (Don’t worry, it’s not bragging, it’s acknowledging a God given gift).
I think I am a good communicator, and a compassionate listener.  The Lord has given me a love for singing and it comes easily to me.  I also love to write, which is part of why I blog.  To put word down on paper flows comes naturally.
What is one of your favorite things to catch a whiff of?
Honeysuckle!  My peppermint candle.  A newborn baby freshly bathed.
When you leave a social gathering, do you wish: You would have talked more or You would have talked less?
It depends on the kind of social gathering.  I am very shy in new surroundings with new people, but around those I am comfortable with I am very energetic and talkative.
If money wasn’t a factor, what stores would you shop in?
Dillards, Eddie Bauer, Lands End, Laura Ashley.
What is your greatest fear or strange phobia?
I am really tested with health issue fears.  To trust the Lord with mine and my family’s health is a challenge for me.
What are your favorite animals?
Koala Bears, bunnies, baby kittens, horses.
Are you a hopeless romantic?
Yes.
Happy Spring Everyone!!  I would love for you to say hi in my comment section!
